(Sorry about that. lol, I needed some comedic relief) :)
Today's inspiration -- Matthew 5: 3-12
The Beatitudes
3) "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4) Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5) Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6) Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7) Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8) Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9) Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10) Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11) Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
12) Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
Well to start out, today was crazy. School was incredibly stressful, my spiritual life is not where it should be, and I'm emotionally worn out. Things have been better, but they could most certainly be worse. I am thankful for where I am though. It's giving me the opportunity to draw closer to God and hold onto Him for strength during this struggle. My best friend Rocky and I were talking while I was at school today and I was telling him how stressed and worried I was. His response was one word... "Pray."
After he said that, I immediately stopped what I was doing and said a prayer. I felt better afterwards, but still a little on edge. I told him this and his next reply was this:
"Trust God. He doesn't fail us."
I know this of course, but I'm really struggling to focus on letting God do the work in my life and let Him take the lead. I told Rocky that I was afraid and overwhelmed. I know that all the while we were talking, Rocky was probably praying that God would give him the words to say to me as he always does. After a few moments, he told me this:
"Read the words of Jesus. Read Matthew 5 and let it out with Him alone."
I did this. I read through Matthew 5... twice... Once at school and then again at home.
This was my favorite thing that he told me today. He said,
"Trust me on this. You won't get through verse 8 before He is right on top of you."
And you wanna know what happened?
He was right!!!
As I was reading through The Beatitudes, I made sure to read slowly and really take in what each verse was saying. Within a matter of moments, I felt God's presence around me as if He was embracing me with an overwhelmingly huge God-sized hug. lol, It was incredible. It's only been a short period of time since I began this journey to really find God and understand what He has planned for my life, but I feel like I have already felt and seen Him in so many ways. I know I still have a long way to go and so much to learn, but as long as I keep seeking Him, I can do this. I can't wait to see what He does in the future. I know as long as He is my foundation that I will never be shaken. I can trust that He will do what He says He will do. I pray that everyday it becomes harder for me to worry and easier to be happy and secure in what God is doing in my life. So my prayer tonight is this:
Father God,
I am nothing without you. I want nothing more than to find your will for me in this life and I am asking you to reveal it to me and draw me close, as only you can, to show me these things. Please give my heart the strength to go through every day knowing that no matter what happens, that you have my best interest at heart and that you only want me to be happy. I know you already have a plan for my life, but now I'm asking to understand that plan. Please give me your wisdom to see what you would have me see and do what you will have me do. I love you with every part of me and want to be so much better, not only for myself, but for you. You gave everything so that I could live this life without fear and shame and this is the start of me repaying you for that. I can never completely do that or even come close, but I can start with giving you my heart. So here it is, the wellspring of my life. Fill it and let it overflow with your unending love.
I love you Father. Thank you for loving me.
In Jesus' Name, Amen. <3
